A Presidential Investiture at George Mason University

Fairfax County, VA – At George Mason University the week of October 18 hosted a weeklong celebration filled with presidential meet and greet opportunities, faculty panels, and discussions prioritizing initiatives and programs geared for student success. The week’s events culminated in an investiture ceremony on October 21, 2021. This opportunity was used to formally recognize Dr. Gregory Washington in his new position as George Mason University’s eighth president of Virginia’s largest public research university by enrollment. Having served as GMU’s lead visionary and operator for over 15 months Dr. Washington continues to steer the state’s most diverse higher education institution with impeccable real-world and academic experience.


A Presidential Investiture at George Mason University Special Event

As part of George Mason University’s weeklong investiture celebration all were invited to attend and participate in several panels and events.

It was during this time that the Bernie L. Bates Foundation’s President was able to attend the President’s Lunch on the Lawn event and following a missed opportunity receive a word of acknowledgement and encouragement from Professor Oluseyi.

  • Hakeem Oluseyi (Astrophysicists and president-elect of the National Society of Black Physicists, Visiting Robinson Professor).
