About Our Keynote Speaker
This year's keynote speaker is Mayor Catherine S. Read, City of Fairfax, Virginia. Mayor Catherine S. Read is serving her second term as the first woman and first George Mason University graduate to lead the City of Fairfax. She represents the city on regional bodies including the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments, the Northern Virginia Transportation Commission, the Northern Virginia Transportation Authority, and the Northern Virginia Regional Commission, and also serves on the Virginia Poverty Law Center Advisory Board and the Equality Virginia PAC Board. A Fairfax resident since 2000, she holds a B.A. in Government and Politics from George Mason University, has long been active on nonprofit boards supporting social justice and economically vulnerable families, and continues to occasionally host community programming for Fairfax Public Access.
